Not-For-Profit Information

We offer a unique view of maritime life and history and we aim to promote the preservation of that heritage with our membership of people, who serve and have a keen interest in this important sector of the life on the island of Ireland. Our 'shop window' is an extensive collection of objects, books, pictures, paintings and documents available to view and research from the display in our Museum in Dun Laoghaire, the headquarters of the organisation. We organise functions to meet and promote all aspects of maritime affairs, with learning institutions and for general interest.

Our volunteers are supplemented by other staff provided through a Community Employment scheme to maintain and run the venue.

We have embarked on the introduction of a good governance program and aim to complete the process in two years.

Professional advisors are engaged to help with H & S, Finance and Marketing management. The succession of Board members is now a major focus. New leadership and input to the strategic development of the organisation is welcome.
