The Chairperson is a key figure and the success of the East Coast Regional Drugs and Alcohol Task Force will very much depend on the level of experience, commitment, skills and energy s/he can bring to the role. The role is to lead the Task Force and to facilitate its meetings. S/he should be independent of any funded project, and preferably have no direct links with any of the Task Force partner agencies.
It would be desirable that the successful candidate has experience of the role of Chairperson; a strong background in business planning and action plan implementation; a knowledge and experience of social inclusion issues, preferably to include drug/alcohol misuse; and an ability to bring together organisations and individuals from different sectors to work as a team.
The position is non-salaried but all out-of-pocket expenses will be paid. The term of office is three years (with a possible second term) with an estimated 10-12 hours per month time commitment.
