Board Finance Role 

The Organisation: 

Ruhama is a unique Irish NGO and registered charity that offers nationwide support to women affected by prostitution and victims of sex trafficking.  Ruhama was founded in 1989, our organisation has extensive expertise in providing a wide range of specialist, holistic support services. Services provided include: Case Management & Care planning, Counselling & Trauma Therapy, Education & Development Programme, Bridge to Work Programme & Outreach. Our services are free, confidential, and delivered by a committed and experienced team. Ruhama also raises public awareness and advocates to shape policy work that will support and protect women who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation.

  • Manage the assets of your charity 

The Role: 

Ruhama are seeking an individual with proven knowledge in financial management and accountancy.  

Responsibilities will include the following: 

  • The candidate must be a qualified Accountant, ACA or CIMA qualified, ideally with at least 5 years senior management experience. 

  • To have a deep insight into all financial policies and controls and propose any recommendations for change. 

  • To have oversight of compliance and risk management in the organisation.  

  • The Director will be appointed to the Audit, Finance & Governance committee of the organisation. Their role will be to chair the committee and monitor the adequacy of financial controls and procedures and ensure the organisation is compliant with best practice principles.  

  • Have an overview of the finances to advise the Board on financial implications of proposals, cash flow problems etc. 

  • Oversight of compliance and risk management in line with usual board responsibilities. 

Board Meetings: 

There will be 9 board meetings and 4 sub-committee meetings a year. Meetings are held in on-line during the COVID restrictions.
