Youth Work Ireland was originally established in 1989 as a response to a growing number of youth clubs in Meath.
With a network of youth clubs across the county, the association has also a network of community youth work projects and a budding youth information service under their belt.
Registered as a limited company in 1992 and affiliated to Youth Work Ireland (formerly National Youth Federation), the group's work over the last number of years has moved from being leisure based to issue based and has increased its level of work with disadvantaged and socially excluded young people in Meath.
The main aim of Youth Work Ireland Meath is "to support our young people and volunteers to create social and educational activities that are fun and constructive for their future and the future of their communities." (Mission Statement)
Youth Work Ireland Meath also recruit, support and train Volunteer leaders and have over 150 volunteers currently working throughout the county.
Youth Work Ireland Meath also aims to monitor, research and disseminate information concerning young people and work closely with statutory, voluntary and community groups to meet the changing needs of young people.
Youth Work Ireland Meath promotes the development of youth clubs and, in addition to providing youth work practice and programmes, obtain and allocate resources for their projects.
