Not-For-Profit Information

As we are at the infancy stage of the project and all our efforts have been in securing a builder and bring the Building up to childcare standards. We now need tangible working reports to give direction and clarity on the future activities of the Irish Cultural centre. The Building is being leased from Dublin City Council for a yearly nominal amount. We need to maintained the building and make provision for any repairs and replacement of equipment therefor we need to be self-financing. These reports will assist the VBOM to make those important decisions and set goals for the future

This is a very new idea to Ballyfermot . The nearest Naionra is in Inchicore and has a waiting list . The idea came about when one of the VBOM had difficulty securing a place. He is the first of 3 generations that will not attend a naionra and start his education through his own language. We wish to give the children of Ballyfermot this opportunity to start their pre school learning Irish .

A Naíonra is a playgroup for children who come together daily (usually for 2-3.5 hours) in a pleasant, cheerful and safe environment, under the guidance and supervision of a Naíonra Leader. The Naíonra is run solely through the medium of Irish using the internationally renowned total early immersion model. Our management committee are in the process of having this up and running for September 2016. We have been awarded a grant of 50,000 to renovate an old community centre in the middle of Convent lawns housing estate in Ballyfermot

Promote the Convent Lawn as a cultural educational Irish Centre. Make links with the local community and all education providers in the area of Ballyfermot informing them of availability of the centre for local use. A feasibility study which will explore all options to become self-financing to ensure the longevity of the cultural centre
The Naionra will cater for 16 pre-schoolers in the mornings. In the afternoon we will provide conversational Irish language classes to groups of 6 to 8 secondary school public. In the evening the centre will be available to all local groups for all activities through irish.
