The Money Advice and Budgeting Service is the State's money advice service, guiding people through dealing with problem debt for more than thirty years. MABS runs a helpline and also operates from more than 60 locations nationwide. MABS is a free, confidential and independent. The MABS offices operate an appointment scheduling system and each service is staffed by experienced Money Advisers who work with clients experiencing difficulties with a wide range of personal debts including personal loans, mortgages, credit card debt, catalogue debts, debts to legal moneylenders and hire purchases.  MABS has a role in administering the State funded Abhaile Scheme which assists people in mortgage arrears and also employs Approved Intermediaries qualified to submit Debt Relief Notice applications for eligible clients. 

MABS is funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board.
