The Citizens Information Service is publically funded by the Citizens Information Board.  The statutory remit is set out in Section (7)1 of the Comhairle Act 2000 as amended by the Citizens Information Act 2007.  The main object of SLCIS is the advancement of education and benefitting the community within the region through the provision of a free and confidential information, advice and advocacy service which informs, educates and empowers all individuals, without discrimination, by ensuring that individuals have access to accurate, comprehensive and clear information on their civil and social rights, entitlements and civic duties and of the social services that exist in the region. 

 

South Leinster Citizens Information Services (CIS) is one of eight companies which allow callers to access information, advise, assistance and advocacy support on public and social services face to face, via the phone or email. During Covid 19, the face to face service is by appointment only.   There are Citizens Information Centres right across Ireland, and these are supported by outreach locations and a mobile service. South Leinster Citizens Information Service (SLCIS) is a charitable company established in 2018. The company provides CIC services in the counties of Carlow, Laois, Kilkenny, Offaly, Wexford and Wicklow.  SLCIS is run by a voluntary Board of Directors
