Not-For-Profit Information

SHEP is a unique community based voluntary group working in Cork, Kerry and Limerick (main office in Ardfoyle, Ballintemple, Cork). We were established 46 years ago, and have pioneered the use of experiential group work in Ireland. The ethos of the project is distinctive, with significant emphasis on supporting individuals to become more personally aware, and also to become more active citizens. SHEP is a relatively small, but dynamic voluntary group which has set out clear values and principles. We are core funded by the HSE, and operate under community development principles.

SHEP's mission is to promote health and wellbeing and to promote social justice. We have a wide range of work areas: personal development training, community empowerment training, facilitation training, training participants as community tutors, facilitators or advocates; We run an advocacy project, a large counselling programme, and provide a wide range of supports to groups and organisations. We also have an international partnership programme (with Sahakarmi Samaj in Nepal)  and have a increasingly important, SHEP Earth Aware  programme. We support over 2000 individuals each year.
