The Sandymount Community Centre aims to connect and bring together people in the local community and through this to foster community spirit and to provide a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Founded in 1962 as The Iris Charles Centre, prior programming was limited to a single cohort: senior citizens.
The Centre was entirely volunteer run until Q4 2022 when the centre was relaunched as the Sandymount Community Centre with a wider remit to serve the entire community;

The Sandymount Community Centre (SCC) aims to connect and bring together people in the local community and through this to foster community spirit and to provide a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Our programming focus over the next 3 years is to combat isolationism.
4 "at risk" groups have been identified:
- Adults 65+
- Parents with young children
- Pre Teens / Early Teens
- Marginalised communities

Community engagement, development and support of a wide variety of programming is paramount to addressing the core community needs and risks in our area.
