Restorative justice is a way of working with people who have been affected by crime. Its focuses more on the harm done to victims than the law/laws that have been broken. Restorative Justice seeks to repair, insofar as possible, the harm caused by the offending behaviour by providing dialogue options for the victims and/or the community to address their issues with the offenders in a safe and non-threatening way. Its objective ae to meet the needs of the victims of crime whilst challenging the offender to put right the harm caused and desist from further offending behaviour .The service is managed by a partnership of stakeholders in the criminal justice who work with RJS. These stakeholders are Probation Services, Community Representatives, Victim Organisations and an Garda Siochana. RJS delivers training to volunteers and statutory stakeholders on the restorative justice process used in RJS. The “harm-doer” (offender) are also encouraged to attend awareness circles and presentations in for example Road Safety, Drug Awareness
