Not-For-Profit Information

Places of Sanctuary Ireland's (PoSI) goal is to develop a culture of welcome and inclusion across Ireland, especially for those seeking sanctuary. We aim to foster and facilitate better understanding about why refugees come, and the skills they bring, and for new arrivals to feel welcomed and included wherever they go.

PoSI works through a network of 13 local groups spread across the island (Dublin, Waterford, Wexford, Cork, Belfast, Galway, Limerick, Portlaoise, Ennis, Monaghan, Athlone, Coleraine, and Derry). Activity is split into several workstreams all committed to our vision and all working in appropriate ways and partnerships to ensure the development of a culture of welcome. Key work includes:

  • Cities, towns, counties, and other places of sanctuary
  • Schools and Universities of sanctuary
  • Libraries and Culture groups of sanctuary
  • Empowering initiatives such as Sanctuary in Politics and Sanctuary        Ambassadors training
