Not-For-Profit Information

The Organic Centre was founded in 1995 to provide training, education, information, and demonstrations in organic gardening, growing, and sustainable living. The centre is a pioneer in organic practice, focusing on promoting organic horticulture and sustainable living through training, public information, advocacy, and the demonstration of best practices.

Located on a 19-acre site near Rossinver in North Leitrim, the centre offers a visitor garden, eco shop, polytunnels, two training rooms, and office space. In collaboration with MSLETB, the centre provides a two-year QQI-accredited Level 5 course in organic horticulture. The Organic Centre delivers up to 50 weekend courses throughout the calendar year covering a wide range of topics including horticulture, traditional stone wall building, eco building and biodiversity .

The Organic Centre has a strong sense of social responsibility and actively supports the local community through various employment schemes. Each week, it hosts a Parents and Toddlers group as well as a weekly community garden, fostering connection and learning for all ages. The centre organises over 30 free events annually and leads several projects to celebrate Heritage Week, Biodiversity Week, and Cruinniú na nÓg, among others. As a member of the Leitrim Public Participation Network (PPN) and the Irish Environmental Network (IEN), the centre is committed to promoting community engagement, environmental awareness, and inclusivity in all its activities.
