Newpark Academy of Music

Not-For-Profit Information

Newpark Academy of Music is a dynamic arts organisation, with charitable status, based in South County Dublin. Though in operation for over 40 years it is housed in a building with a history of music that spans 200 years - music is literally sewn into our DNA!

The Academy has an extensive musical offering for students: there are gateway programmes aimed at beginning musical education for toddlers and very young children (0-5); an introduction to instruments programme, honing the musical development of the 5-7 age range and then there are a diverse range of individual instrument lessons.

Newpark Academy of Music is also adept at ensemble teaching: jazz improvisation, orchestra, junior strings and choir and chamber groups allowing musical education to develop collaboratively. There are also a range of jazz micro courses on offer.

The Academy also has strong links with Newpark Comprehensive School, with students offered lessons in their choice of instrument, at a reduced rate.

Pupils in the Academy regularly get to participate in student concerts: both in-house and in local venues, which helps build confidence and resilience for pupils of all ages, as well as being fun, social events.

Finally, Newpark Academy of Music is also involved in providing excellence in the music community through the Newpark Festival, which runs every Spring and allows students of exceptional abilities to compete at competition level. Winners later perform at a concert in the National Concert Hall in June.
