The National Museum of Ireland (NMI) as a National Cultural Institution established by the National Cultural Institutional Act 1997 with statutory obligations to:
• Collect, preserve, promote and exhibit all examples of Ireland’s material heritage, intangible heritage and natural history.
• Interpret, curate and promote the collections and make them accessible to audiences at home and abroad.
• Maintain a leading role in education, research and scholarship pertaining to the collections and their contexts.
• Acknowledge and deliver on its public sector duties through engaging with communities and promoting equality and diversity through our education and outreach programmes.
