Not-For-Profit Information

Limerick Mental Health Association (LMHA) provides services for supporting a healthier meaningful life. Our aim is to help support people towards emotional health. LMHA leads the way to promoting a better future for people who require supports to improve their mental health, and also to proactively prevent the development of mental health challenges. The supports will be across a range of services, information and activities which will allow people to recover and live a full and healthy life within the community.

We also run Mental Health Week every year. The week provides a forum to generate discussion, reduce stigma and promote positive mental health and well-being. Finally, Limerick Mental Health Week highlights the range of supports and services which are available within the local community to support our mental health.

We are affiliated with, and share the aims of Mental Health Ireland (MHI) – a national voluntary organisation. We promote positive mental health and support people who experience mental health difficulties.

Limerick Mental Health Association was founded in 2002 with the purpose of promoting positive mental health in the Limerick region. The association is affiliated with Mental Health Ireland and shares its mission of promoting positive mental health and wellbeing to all individuals and communities and to support people who experience mental health difficulties on their journey of recovery and their families and carers.

Our Vision is a Limerick where people value their own and each others' mental health as an important part of living well; where people who experience mental health difficulties can recover wellbeing and reach their full potential within an informed and supportive community.

Our Mission: We promote positive mental health and wellbeing in the Limerick community. We support adults on their recovery journey through peer-led engagement and activities.

LMHA is committed to the principles of: Trust and Respect, Transparency and Accountability, Collaboration and Participation, Equality and Inclusion and Empowerment and Hopefulness.

Limerick MHA established a centre for people who have experienced difficulties in coping in 2003. The centre provides support, friendship and opportunity to help people develop their talents and coping skills primarily through the use of social and creative activities.
