The Kilbarrack Community Development Project also referred as Kilbarrack Children’s Project’s purpose is to provide an after-school program for children in the community. It is a community service and is classified as a school aged childcare service under the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) (Registration of School Aged Services) Regulations 2018.

 

The KCDP aims to provide a safe and inclusive environment where children are supported in their holistic development through play, choice based programming and encouraged to have fun.

 

The service is open for 45 weeks per year from August to July, offering services for children from 1.30-6.00pm Monday to Friday on a sessional and part-time care. Excluding holidays. The service operates two rooms; Kool room is ages 4-7 and Goal room is ages 8-12, at times it is necessary to alter the age groups due to the age ranges of the children. The service operates on a 1:12 ratio with a maximum capacity of 72 children.

 

Program and activities offered are varied, children are given choice in their activities and staff work in collaboration with children on deciding on programs and activities. Activities that are offered include; arts, crafts, physical activity, computers, homework support, board games, free play, yoga and a summer program during the month of July.
