The National Council (NC) is the main decision making body of the organisation. The governance structure of IDEA is further described in the Memorandum and Articles of Understanding which is available in the IDEA office. IDEA, the Irish Development Education Association, is the national network for Development Education in Ireland and a leading voice for the sector. We represent over 100 members involved in the practice, promotion and advancement of Development Education in formal, non-formal and informal settings. Development Education enables people to understand the world around them and to act to transform it. It engages people through a process of interaction, reflection and action towards supporting Global Justice. It works to tackle the root causes of injustice and inequality, globally and locally.

Together with our members we work to strengthen Development Education in Ireland and to raise awareness of the crucial role of Development Education in achieving an equal, just and sustainable future.
