Hyperemesis Ireland is a small, fully remote, and volunteer-run charity set up in 2017 to advocate for and support patients with hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy) in the Republic of Ireland. HG is a distressing and debilitating condition, resulting in over 3,000 hospitalisations annually in Ireland and puts women and babies at increased risk of complications both in pregnancy and after pregnancy.
We have a new strategy for 2025-2027 and are looking for more board members (and volunteers) to work towards our focus on more equitable access to treatment for HG in Ireland.
Our aims are as follows:
- To provide information and support to women and families affected by hyperemesis gravidarum in Ireland.
- To provide information that informs and educates healthcare professionals about care and treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum
- To raise public awareness about hyperemesis gravidarum, its impacts and available treatments, through media liaison and public engagement
- To support and encourage research into hyperemesis gravidarum
