The Humanist Association of Ireland (HAI), founded in 1993, with a membership of up to 1,200 members and 36 humanist celebrants is a charity that provides humanist ceremonies for the non-religious and uses education to promote humanism as a life choice that combines reason with compassion. 

The organisation, through its nationwide network of regional groups and celebrants promotes humanism and provides a range of services from weddings to naming ceremonies to funerals.  Last year HAI celebrants officiated at nearly 2,000 humanist weddings with similar figures for 2019.

The organisation has one part-time Administrator and is currently advertising for a Development Manager.

The Board (7) meets monthly and has overall responsibility for the corporate governance of the HAI. Day to day management is delegated to the part-time staff who currently report to the Chairperson.

Board members are required to use their best efforts to promote and support the development of the organisation

The HAI is a not-for-profit organisation and Board members do not receive payment for their services.  However all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.  The Board meetings are normally held in the evenings in Dublin city centre.

New Board members are asked to make a minimum two-year commitment to the Board.  Board Induction will be arranged.
