Hack Access Dublin is a hackathon (a condensed innovation event) focused on solving accessibility challenges in the environment. We have been running this event annually in Google, since 2016. Last year we set up our Community Meet-up to grow our community. To date over 100 people have taken part.
Our goal is to focus the talent of Dublin's startup community on creating a city that is more inclusive to people with disabilities. And to highlight how people with disabilities are excluded from social, cultural and economic life in a way that encourages a solutions focused, creative and collaborative approach to accessibility challenges. And empowers people of all abilites to take an active not in solving the challenges they face.
Now we want to scale and make a bigger impact. To do that we are creating a not-for-profit organisation called Hack Access.
Our vision of an inclusive world powered by the global startup community is guided by the belief that we can support our government to create a more inclusive country and implement the UNs Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability. Our plan is to scale our activities around Ireland and beyond and facilitate public and private sector collaboration focused on solving accessibilty challenges in the environment.
We are seeking three trustees to join our board to help us mould our not-for-profit organisation. Ideally these trustees would have an interest in social innovation and have previous experience with charities and be in a position to offer assistance with:
- Legal and governance
- Business plan and strategy
-safeguarding protection of vulnerable individuals
