GIY is passionate about the power of food growing experiences to set people on a journey to good health and an improved understanding of food and nutrition ('food empathy'). GIY employs 23 people currently, based in Waterford.  In 2019 GIY will support over 500,000 people to grow their own food for the first time in one of our award-winning programmes, campaigns or events.  GIY supports over 5,000 community food growing projects across Ireland and the UK and works with visionary partner organisations including innocent, Cully & Sully, Energia, Heineken, the EPA and Bord Bia.

In 2016, GIY developed a home for the GIY movement, a food education centre and home-grown food cafe called GROW HQ in Waterford, Ireland. GROW HQ is one of the Sunday Times' Top 100 Restaurants in Ireland in 2019.  The 3rd series of GIY's TV show GROW COOK EAT is filmed on location at GROW HQ and presented by GIY founder Michael Kelly and Head of Development Karen O'Donohoe.  www.growhq.org.
