Garryowen CDP was set up in 2008, with the support of the PAUL Partnership, under the Local Community Development programme which was established to reduce social exclusion, by targeting support at disadvantaged and socially excluded communities.
The project was established, in recognition of the need to tackle the causes and effects of poverty and socio-economic disadvantage within the Community. The target group of our organisation is all people living in the Community but especially, marginalised young people, the unemployed, lone parents, senior citizens and those experiencing isolation in particular people moving from regeneration areas.

The mission of the Garryowen Community Development Project is to be the catalyst for development of services in the community through building the capacity of local people through training, education and support, and working in partnership with all stakeholders to create sustainable quality services that meet the needs of the local community.
The core vision of the Garryowen Community Development Project is to work together with residents, local community groups, and statutory bodies to improve the quality of life and opportunities for those who live in the Garryowen Community, especially the most vulnerable. Our work strengthens support networks for families while creating a platform for community development. We envisage that our work will lead to better outcomes for people through the development of services that meet those needs and the establishment of facilities and resources.
