In Ireland, 1 in 5 single parents live in poverty with their children according to the CSO. Empower the Family plans to counteract this by providing the right supports to empower single parents who have the determination and ability to succeed in university. This will help them create a life away from poverty for themselves and their children. As part of our mission we will be tackling three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - poverty alleviation, reducing inequality and providing quality education. The objective of Empower the Family is simple, to break the homeless and poverty cycle for generations to come.
