Dochas (meaning 'Hope') Family Centre is a referral based agency working with children aged 7-12 years with social, emotional and behavioural issues. Our aim is to empower children & families through community based therapeutic interventions to strengthen the family unit and build resilience in the community. Dochas Family Centre is a trauma informed agency working in a social ecological way to bring about positive change in families from the North Clondalkin area in Dublin. We do this in a number of ways:
- Individual therapeutic sessions (children)
- Creation of Child Support Plans (through assessment)
- Group/paired work (children & parents)
- Advocating on behalf of children & families
- Regular home visits
- Trips/specialist activities
- Therapeutic interventions e.g., play therapy & family therapy
- Transition from primary to post primary school
Dochas has a Garda Vetted and qualified staff team providing support to children & families in school and at home. The team works to ameliorate and enhance attachment, communication, self regulation, family difficulties and adverse childhood experiences (ACE's) in a solution focused way where the child & family are central. We work with between 25-28 families for up to 2 years and link in with schools, youth services, other relevant agencies, primary care, social work and CAMHS.
