Not-For-Profit Information

As a community development organisation we aim to increase the number of people in the area taking part in good quality community programmes which will develop their skills, abilities and confidence to reach their full potential. We inform people of where they can access information and relevant services and represent the community in negotiating facilities and services. We aim to facilitate the voice of the community through the Regeneration process.
Regular activities, programmes and events include the following:
a) supporting community groups e.g. Abbey United Football Club, Estate Upkeep Team, Youth City, Abbeyquarter Men’s Group, Women’s Group; the Community Forum and Residents Associations
b) community education programmes, midterm and summer camps for a variety of ages
c) family days, community garden days, Culture Night, Heritage Week etc.
d) communications via social media and a newsletter delivered to all houses in the area.
Sustainability is a strong focus in our strategic plan and we use the community garden in particular as an open and welcoming safe space for all to share knowledge and skills and practise resilience as a community. We are also developing our community workshop as an informal social space where the community can meet and build connections.
