Not-For-Profit Information

Community Awareness of Drugs was established in 1983 in response to the unprecendented drug-related issues that arose in communities in Leinster at the time. In the 1990s CAD qualified as a registered charity to provide drug education opportunities for parents and community workers. In 1992, CAD launched its successful Family Focus programme which is a six session programme that promotes the role of the parent in reducing the demand for drugs. We sit on a number of National Drug Strategy related focus groups and committees. In recent times we have begun to do more focused work outside of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow. We now have voluntary tutors in the North East Region, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Meath. We currently have a suite of services on offer to parents / guardians and carers, community workers, professionals and vulnerable young people.
