Children in Hospital Ireland

Not-For-Profit Information

Children in Hospital Ireland was founded in 1970 by a group of committed parents to highlight the rights and welfare of children in hospital and their families. CHI is recognised as having played a significant role in influencing many positive changes that have occurred in hospital care for children in Ireland, including the provision of education and play and recreation services in the hospitals. We place volunteers in 13 hospitals across Ireland to provide a play service. We also have an information and education role and run an annual lecture on an issue of relevance to hospital professionals, like minded organisations and volunteers and families. We contribute to relevant policy papers and Government initiatives in order to ensure the rights and welfare of children in hospital and their families. We are founding members of the European Association of Children in Hospital.
