Childminding Ireland has a vision of an Ireland in which childminding flourishes resulting in profound benefits for children, families and communities. A childcare environment in which childminders have parity of esteem, access to supports, training and equitable inclusion in policy and in practice.
At Childminding Ireland, we offer support to childminders so that they can provide best quality childcare in a home-from-home setting for the benefit of children, their families and local community.
Our Goals are to:
- Offer meaningful support to childminders.
- Effectively inform parents, policy makers and the wider public on the unique benefits of childminding as a professional childcare service.
- Lobby decision makers on issues facing childminding.
- Continue to develop the effectiveness of the organisation in realising its vision.
At Childminding Ireland, we provide childminders access to training and professional development. The benefits also include reduced insurance costs when you join our group insurance scheme. Professional resources & practical advice to members, childminding contacts and to parents using childminding services. Parents are also offered access to our Childminders Directory to help find a childminder in their own area.
Childminding Ireland is the National Association for Childminding as is solely focused on childminding, representing members, contacts, and parents using childminding services in our lobbying.
The majority of Childminding Ireland’s funding is from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, with a small amount of self-generated income
We have a small, ambitious, dedicated, skilled staff.
Childminding Ireland meets all our regulatory and statutory obligations and are compliant with the Charities Governance Code
We are looking for 2 new voluntary Board Members, a legal background for one of the positions would be helpful if possible. Otherwise someone who can contribute to the success of the organisation would be most welcome. Typically there are 5 Board meetings a year, held on a Saturday morning. The Board meetings are currently online, and in have been held in Leixlip prior to the pandemic.
