Castleknock Community Centre is a busy, vibrant and welcoming community centre located in Laurel Lodge, Dublin 15. Since 2014, the Centre has developed extensively and has become an important hub for community life, providing accessible spaces, activities and services for people of all ages, backgrounds and interests.
The Centre provides a range of rooms and facilities for hire, supporting more than 80 groups and organisations operating on a weekly basis. Our users include groups involved in drama, exercise and fitness, arts and crafts, education, community support and a wide range of social and cultural activities. We are proud to welcome organisations from across the community, including the Spina Bifida Open Opportunities Service, Sudanese School, Muslim Women Together, church groups and many other local organisations and community initiatives.
With annual footfall in excess of 140,000, Castleknock Community Centre is a well established and well used community resource. Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of age, background, culture, faith or ability. We believe that a strong community is one where people have opportunities to meet, participate, learn, socialise and support one another.
In addition to providing facilities for local groups, the Centre also develops and delivers its own community activities, with a particular focus on supporting our older community and helping to reduce social isolation. These activities provide opportunities for people to stay active, connected and involved in community life.
The Centre also has its own coffee shop on the premises, providing a welcoming space where users, visitors and local residents can meet, relax and socialise. It adds to the informal, community focused atmosphere of the Centre and encourages people to connect beyond the activities taking place in our rooms.
Castleknock Community Centre is supported by a Board of Directors made up of local professionals who are committed to the continued development of the Centre and to serving the wider community. The Directors take an active and proactive role in supporting the Centre Manager, providing governance, professional expertise and strategic direction. Together, the Board and management team have overseen the significant development of the Centre since 2014.
Today, Castleknock Community Centre is much more than a building where rooms are hired. It is a meeting place, a social hub and a platform for community organisations to deliver their activities and services. Our aim is to ensure that the Centre remains open, welcoming and accessible to the whole community, while continuing to respond to the changing needs of the people and organisations we serve.
