The Blackpool Community Co-Operative Service Centre, opened on December 8, 1968, was established to provide essential medical, social, and community services directly to the residents of Blackpool, Cork, and its surrounding areas. It was designed as a cooperative, driven by local need and supported by the Assumption Sisters, clergy, and the community to provide services like a dispensary doctor and childcare, community services, previously unavailable in the locality. It has developed into a non-demoninational, non-party political, inclusive organisation
