Not-For-Profit Information

The overall context in which the organisation operates is very challenging.

There are 3500 children from 7 to 20 living in the catchment area. These children are exposed to the impacts of poverty, unemployment, drug and alcohol misuse and a range of other social problems to a greater extent than almost any other children in the country. Recent gang violence has only added to these problems. We are the only organisation providing services to the 750 kids aged 7-10 and is at the forefront of providing services to 10-20 year olds along with other local organisations.

We operate a dynamic youth centre in Inner City Dublin delivering targeted programmes to young people and has endeavoured to be at the forefront of best practice in youth work.

There are 3 areas of priority for the organisation.
• Universal services that are available to all members. They include drop in services for primary and secondary school kids in the afternoon and evening. They also include a summer programme to the South East
• Targeted youth programmes that are delivered by the youth work team to smaller groups to develop self-confidence, creativity, informal learning and relationships. These programmes include homework clubs, outdoor activities, sports and activities, drama, computer skills, photography, creative writing and youth leadership.
• Working with ‘harder to reach’ young people that involves working in small groups and one to one with young people who are at risk of entering into the justice system. This work involves building stronger relationships with their families and helping them to define a direction for their lives.
