Belle Lake Trust started 15 years ago by two founding members with interest of conserving and protecting Belle Lake County Waterford. A project was presented Waterford County Council with great interest. The Trust is dedicated to complete this project within the next few years. At present the trust formed the Belle Lake Pike Angling Club who are affiliated would a pike federation of Ireland. This allows members to take part in the sport of Angling which in turn helps monitor and protect natural fish stocks and the surrounding hinterland. The Club committee acts as the driving force of the trust. However moving forward a board of trustees would greatly help to the organisation.

The main objective of Belle Lake Trust is to conserve and monitor Waterford’s largest (46 hectors) natural fresh water body and proposed National Heritage Area. Also to promote Waterford as a possible pike angling destination and create rural economical growth. By providing a facility that could also be used as a freshwater habitat Interpretive Centre.
