Ballymun Adult Read & Write Scheme CLG (BARWS), funded through City of Dublin Education and Training Board, is run by a Board of Management comprising members of statutory bodies, volunteers and community groups working in the area. Courses are delivered in a range of tuition venues throughout Ballymun with the majority being held in the CDETB Ballymun Adult Education Centre.
During 2017 more than 400 adult students attended BARWS courses in small groups or one to one tuition. We deliver basic literacy, numeracy and technology programmes as well as a range of QQI courses at levels 2,3, and 4. We are actively involved with local committees and networking with other community organisations to ensure broader supports for our students.
BARWS currently employs 18 staff - 1 working full time and 17 working part-time. The Scheme Manager attends to the day-to-day management of the Company.
