Our Vision and Mission
Our aim is to facilitate and enable the artistic communities of the county of Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown
As objects incidental and ancillary to the attainment of the Main Object, the Company shall have the following subsidiary objects:
To establish a drop-in creative arts hub for the local and artistic communities of Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown.
To support (where appropriate and possible) the five (5) pillars of the Creative Ireland Programme 2017-2022
To support (where appropriate and possible) the Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown County Council’s Art’s Plan 2016-2020 and future Art’s Plans
Our vision and mission established in 2013 have been proceeding steadily.
From small beginnings of monthly “Coffee-Dock” meetings, the past few years show a marked increase in our membership, activities, audience and reach.
From four Artists Talks in 2017-2019 to six in the period 2018-2019 and now there are six planned and scheduled for 2020
From three to four professional development workshops in 2014/2015 to ten in 2017/2019 and nine planned and scheduled for 2020
In 2017, we established the beginning of our ArtNetdlr Biennale Collaborative Project and held our second “Hinterland” in May 2019 where fifty artists of all different disciplines collaborated on a common theme. The attendance was over 1500 over the ten days of the Exhibition.
2019 saw us host Art’s Evenings, which include writers, poets and musicians.
Our website www.artnetdlr.ie continues to extend its reach. It is continually under review and we are currently working on a writer’s page.
More recently, our professional workshops for members and guests are hosted online via Zoom.
All of our events are advertised and sold through Eventbrite.
Our back-story
In early 2013, the groundwork for an Artist Network was facilitated by Dunlaoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Arts office. In late 2013, the Arts Office put it to the artistic community of Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown take ownership of the network and develop it independently but with Arts Office continuing support.
The Artist Network Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown (ArtNetdlr) is a voluntary group working with the support of the Arts Office of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Currently there are 150 registered members and many more supporters, as seen at our recent ArtNetdlr Biennale Collaborative Project, which had over 500 attendees at the opening night and approximately 1500 visitors during the 10 days of the exhibition.
The aim Artnetdlr is to facilitate and enable the artistic communities of the county of Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown, through communication, workshops, talks and other events, supporting the artistic community throughout the county.
As a professional body, Artnetdlr is aware of the creative potential of the artist community in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown to make a meaningful and ongoing contribute to the realisation of Creative Irelands Programme 2017 – 2022 and to DLRCOCo’s Arts Plan 2016 – 2022 and beyond.
