Trustee with HR Experience

Limerick Youth Service was founded in 1973 and is a leading provider of youth work, education, training & employability opportunities for young people aged 10 to 25.  Limerick Youth Service is an Integrated Youth Service and one of 22 member Youth Services affiliated to Youth Work Ireland.           

We are currently looking to involve new Board Trustees and are particularly interested in volunteers with HR experience. 

The trustee is required to be part of Limerick Youth Service Board and the HR Committee.  The Board Trustee will work with the CEO and Board to achieve the mission and objectives of Limerick Youth Service.

As part of the HR sub-committee the Trustee work to; 

• To support & advise the CEO & HR Manager on staffing matters generally and ensure that the organisation’s policies and procedures are followed.

• To make recommendations to the Board of LYS on personnel matters as appropriate.

• To periodically review terms and conditions, policies and practices relating to the recruitment and employment of staff and to bring the recommendations of the sub committee to the Board.

• To consider remuneration, to make recommendations in relation setting salary scales, increments etc. and reviewing current policy re same.

• To ensure fairness, consistency, equality and objectivity in the company’s dealings with its staff and facilitate the effective management and development of staff at all levels in the company thereby promoting a positive working environment and industrial relations climate.

• To advise the Board on their financial and legal responsibilities to employees and to recommend measures to be put in place as required to ensure compliance with these responsibilities.

• To provide updates to the Board as appropriate on significant human resources-related issues within the organisation as they arise.
