Founded in 1978, Threshold provides independent advice and advocacy to people experiencing housing problems in the rental sector. Threshold helps prevent homelessness by providing free advice, mediation and representation services to people in housing difficulty and campaigning for a fairer housing system.

We work closely with renters while advocating to make lasting legislative and policy change to ensure everyone has a right to affordable, secure, suitable, and good quality housing.

General Trustee duties of a Threshold Trustee:

  • Comply with the Charity’s governing document.
  • Ensuring Threshold is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
  • Acting in the best interest of the charity.
  • Act with Reasonable Care and Skill.
  • Manage the assets of Threshold.

The Role:

Threshold is seeking a Finance/Treasurer Trustee with requisite qualifications and demonstrable knowledge in financial management or accountancy.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Oversight of compliance and risk management
  • Evaluating and monitoring the adequacy of financial controls and procedures to ensure the organisation is compliant with best practice principles of the charitable sector.
  • Setting the organisation's strategic goals and policies and then monitoring progress to achieving them.

Essential Criteria

Experience of finance management for at least 10 years.  Be prepared to serve a 3 year term eligible for standing for a second 3 year term

Desirable Criteria

  • Not for profit, charitable or community development experience professionally or on a board.
  • Understanding of the housing sector

Board Meetings:

Board meetings are held approximately every 8 weeks. Meeting dates are agreed at the end of each Board meeting.

Meetings are generally online via Zoom. One to two meetings per year are in-person meetings. Meetings generally last 90 minutes.

The AGM is held in Quarter 4
