Charity Trustee at Mercy Family Centre

The Organisation: Mercy Family Centre, established in 1980 by the compassionate Sisters of Mercy, is a beacon of hope and progress nestled in the heart of Dublin 8. With a rich history rooted in empowering local families, the Centre has evolved into a dynamic force for positive change, offering top-notch services to a community undergoing significant structural and demographic changes.

The Role: Mercy Family Centre’s policy is to have a multi discipline board with a broad range of skill sets and is seeking to recruit a trustee with a background in any of the following disciplines Financial/Accountancy, Legal, Community/Arts, Medical/Psychology, Senior Administration, and Information Technology. These skills would beneficial but not essential to the application.

Duties of a Charity Trustee:

  • Comply with the Charity’s governing document
  • Ensure the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
  • Act in the best interest of the charity
  • Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
  • Manage the assets of the charity

Responsibilities:

  • Provide input to the strategic direction of the Not-For-Profit, contributing insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation in the sector.
  • Participate in policy formation and implementation as required.

Essential Skills/Qualities required for these roles:

  • A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of Mercy Family Centre
  • Commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance

Board Meetings: There will be 8 board meetings a year. Meetings are held online.
