Arts Therapy Centre (CATC) Trading As Blue Box
Our Mission: The mission of Blue Box CATC is to provide psychotherapy services to vulnerable children, young people, and their families to realise their full potential through research-based, innovative, professional, accredited Creative Arts Therapies. Priority is given to the most socially & economically disadvantaged children in Limerick.
Through the medium of Creative Arts Psychotherapy, we work with traumatised children and their families to create a healthier, more pro-active participation in their own lives, schools, communities, and society. Blue Box is the only charity that provides free support and Therapy services to disadvantaged and impoverished children/youth in Limerick. Referrals come from schools, social workers, HSE, CAMHS, TUSLA, community organisations and local families. We provide services to 12 Deis Schools (secondary and primary) with on-site services at Blue Box to community organisations and local families.
The Role:
Blue Box CATC are seeking to recruit a trustee with a background in clinical, therapy or education.
The Board are particularly interested in individuals with recent and relevant experience in working with community or charity organisations.
Charities Regulator’s General Duties of a Charity Trustee
- Comply with the Charity’s governing document
- Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
- Acting in the best interest of the charity
- Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
- Manage the assets of your charity
By being a trustee of Blue Box, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings and any additional commitments
- Policy development and implementation as required
- Provide expertise and knowledge to the Board and Executive of Blue Box in the area of clinical, therapy and education
Essential/Desired Skills/Qualities required for these roles:
- A fundraising or clinical, therapy or education
- A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
- An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
- Commitment to highest levels of corporate governance
Board Meetings:
There will be 10 board meetings and 5 sub-committee meetings a year. Meetings are held in Blue Box CATC, Roxboro, Limerick.
