Trustee with Arts and Community experience

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about the arts, community engagement and social impact, and who can contribute strategically to the continued growth and sustainability of the organisation.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Philanthropy and fundraising.
  • Corporate partnerships and sponsorship.
  • Local government, community development or public sector leadership.
  • Health, wellbeing and social prescribing.
  • Cross-department collaboration within Local Authorities or public bodies.
  • Building partnerships across the arts, health, education and community sectors.
  • Cross-border initiatives and government funding.
  • Legal or governance expertise.

 

Priority Recruitment

Festival in a Van intends to strengthen the Board through strategic appointments in the following areas:

1. Philanthropy & Fundraising

An individual with experience of major donors, trusts, foundations or corporate giving who can help Festival in a Van diversify its income and build long-term financial sustainability.

2. Public Sector, Community & Partnership Development

An individual with senior experience working across Local Authorities, health, community development or government agencies, with a strong understanding of partnership working, cross-department collaboration and public funding. Experience of developing initiatives that bring together the arts, health, education and community sectors would be particularly valuable.

 

What We Ask of Board Members

Board members are expected to:

  • Provide strategic direction and good governance.
  • Champion Festival in a Van and advocate for its work.
  • Share knowledge, expertise and professional networks.
  • Support fundraising and partnership development where appropriate.
  • Attend approximately six Board meetings each year - predominantly online.
  • Contribute to the long-term sustainability and development of the organisation.

Festival in a Van is entering an exciting new phase of development. Alongside artistic excellence, we are expanding our national reach, developing long-term partnerships, diversifying income streams, exploring charitable status and increasing our impact through socially engaged arts programmes.

We are seeking Board members who share this ambition and who can help shape the organisation's future through strategic leadership, strong governance and a commitment to ensuring that more people can experience the transformative power of the arts.
