The Irish Green Building Council is seeking a Charity trustee with a proven record in HR practice to join the board of trustees. He/she should be a qualified HR professional, with at least five years’ experience. Experience in employment law and beat practice necessary. If you have experience in this area and want to play a key role in participating in board, we’re keen to hear from you.
General Trustee duties of a Charity Trustee:
- Complying with the IGBC’s governing document
- Ensuring the IGBC is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
- Acting in the best interest of the charity
- Acting with Reasonable Care and Skill
- Managing the IGBC’s assets
Responsibilities of a Legal Charity Trustee include the following:
- Advising and supporting the organisation in the fulfilment of the Board’s financial and legal responsibilities in relation to employees.
- Ensuring the implementation of good employment practices by regularly reviewing structures, procedures and practice
- Assisting the CEO with decision making in relation to personnel issues as they arise and make recommendations to the Board
- Ensuring that decisions in relation to staff employment issues are made within the parameters of the financial constraints of the organization.
- Advising on and approving decisions regarding staff appointments, salary scales, remuneration, non-statutory leave; acting up arrangements and changes in terms and conditions
- Regularly report to the Board.
Board Meetings: There are 6-7 board meetings a year. Board Meetings are held in the offices of Irish Green Building Council, The Masonry, 151 Thomas Street, Dublin D08 PY5E.
Subcommittees: There are currently two full-time sub-committees of the Board. These are Finance and Governance and Risk. This area is under review, and the HR Trustee will be expected to be a member of a Sub-committee appropriate to their experience. Sub-committee meetings are generally online.
