Limerick Island Community Partners (LICP) is seeking to recruit four new Directors.

The Roles:

The Board of LICP is seeking to recruit four new Directors to its Board of Directors, with each new Director having recent and relevant experience and knowledge in one of the following areas:

  1. Governance and compliance
  2. Financial and risk management
  3. Business and social enterprise
  4. Community and youth engagement

Skills/Qualities for these roles:

  • A passion for community development
  • An interest in empowering local people to effect positive change.
  • An understanding of and commitment to LICP’s mission and values
  • Commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance

Board Meetings:

The Board meets ten times per year. Board meetings are usually held in person in LICP’s offices from 11.00am to 13.00pm. New Board members would also be required to attend a minimum of four committee meetings per year.

An initial commitment of 3 years is preferred. All Directors shall serve for a period of three (3) years and be eligible for re-election for a further three (3) year period only.

Limerick Island Community Partners has been in existence for over 25 years and has a long-standing history of representing and serving the community of St. Mary’s Parish/King’s Island. LICP is a multi-faceted organisation that delivers through sustainable community development. Its main aim is to empower and support local people to effect positive change in their own lives and in the wider community.

 

LICP is committed to and actively involved in tackling the social, educational, health, economic, and environmental problems facing the community. Our vision is to be the one-stop community organisation in King’s Island positively supporting a happy, healthy, thriving community.

The Board of Directors is responsible for:

  • the employment of staff at the company.
  • establishing and ensuring the implementation of policy objectives based upon current and future agreed strategies for the organisation.
  • overseeing and maintaining the financial health of the organisation.
  • ensuring the highest standards of governance and transparency.
  • enabling and delegating to sub-committees/working groups prudent decision-making powers for efficiency in relation to certain projects to ensure that the company has access to the broadest range of specialist expertise and advice in all aspects of its work.

Person Specification:

Individual Board members are expected to:

  • Know the company’s mission, policies, programmes, and daily needs.
  • Read and understand the company’s financial statements.
  • Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the company and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the company to advance its mission.
  • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the company’s mission.
  • Help identify personal connections that can benefit the company’s fundraising and reputational standing and can influence public policy.
  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate.
  • Participate fully in one or more subgroups or sub committees.
  • Maintain confidentiality about internal matters of the company.
