Help Shape the Future of Volunteering in County Louth – Join Our Board

Louth Volunteer Centre exists to support, promote and strengthen volunteering across County Louth. Our vision is “a thriving County Louth where volunteering strengthens communities and enriches lives.” Every year, we work alongside volunteers, community groups, schools and charities to turn goodwill into meaningful, well-supported action that benefits people across the county.

With our new Strategic Plan for 2026–2030 recently approved, we are now seeking a Communications & Strategy Board Member to help guide the organisation through its next phase of development. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute at a strategic level, helping ensure that our vision, impact and priorities are clearly communicated and effectively delivered over the coming five years.

About the Role

The Communications & Strategy Board Member provides strategic insight and guidance to the Board and staff team on communications, messaging and organisational development. The role supports strong governance by helping ensure that how we communicate reflects who we are, what we stand for, and the impact we make in communities across County Louth.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who brings:

  • Experience in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, advocacy or strategic planning

  • An understanding of how effective communications support organisational strategy, growth and community impact

  • A commitment to the vision and mission of Louth Volunteer Centre, and the time required to contribute meaningfully at board level

  • An interest in the community and voluntary sector (professional or voluntary experience welcomed)

What You’ll Contribute As a Volunteer Board Member

As Communications & Strategy Board Member, you will:

  • Provide strategic oversight and advice on communications, messaging and public positioning in line with the 2026–2030 Strategy

  • Support the Board and Manager, through the Communications & Strategy subcommittee, in ensuring communications reflect the organisation’s vision of a thriving County Louth strengthened by volunteering

  • Help articulate and demonstrate the impact of volunteering to stakeholders including volunteers, community organisations, funders and partners

  • Contribute to the ongoing implementation, review and refinement of the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan

  • Offer insight on stakeholder engagement, partnerships and advocacy opportunities that support strategic objectives

  • Keep informed of sector trends, policy developments and best practice in communications and strategic governance

Why Volunteer With Us?

By joining the Board of Louth Volunteer Centre, you will help shape how volunteering is understood, valued and supported across County Louth at a pivotal moment in the organisation’s development. Your expertise will directly support an organisation that enables thousands of volunteer hours each year and strengthens hundreds of community and voluntary organisations to better serve their communities.

This is a chance to influence long-term strategy, amplify community impact, and help realise a vision of volunteering that truly enriches lives.
