Board Member/Director
The Organisation:
CHA is a non-profit company with Charitable Status and has Approved Housing Body status with the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government. It was set up in 2001, on the initiative of local residents in Baltimore, a fishing village in West Cork where holiday home development was pushing house prices out of the reach of local people.
Our Mission Statement:
“Develop and provide housing and associated amenities, for a range of households that were excluded from the housing market, on the basis of partnership with local authorities and community organisations, and aiming at a high level of energy efficiency and sustainability.”
The Role:
Carbery Housing Association are currently seeking to recruit 3 voluntary board members to play a meaningful role in supporting the organisation’s mission and shaping its future direction.
Desired Skills and Experience:
The Board welcomes candidates with a range of experience and skills, and are particularly interested in individuals with relevant experience in:
- Financial Management
- Communications & Marketing
- Social Housing
- Law
Desired Qualities:
- A passion for social justice and fairness in terms of housing
- A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
- An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
- Commitment to highest levels of corporate governanc
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings and any additional commitments
- Policy development and implementation as required
Board Meetings:
There will be 12 board meetings and 6 sub-committee meetings a year. Meetings are held online.
