Board Member
Principle responsibilities of the Board of Directors include strategic direction, financial and risk management, monitoring performance and good governance. The board conducts an annual review of what skills are required by board members and new members are chosen to ensure an appropriate balance of experience and skills relevant to the organisation. Our governance arrangements are designed in order to
ensure effectiveness and accountability. The rules, terms of reference, and structure underlying our governance arrangements are reviewed regularly and evaluated in the light of environmental changes and emerging good practice.
Carbery Housing is fully compliant with the Charities Governance Code. The purpose of the Governance Code is to promote high standards of governance and transparency within the voluntary and charitable sector.
- Our Board operates to good practice guidelines for governance and has signed up to Governance Code.
- We are regulated by the Approved Housing Bodies Regulatory Authority.
- We are a member of the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) and are an Approved Housing Body.
- All of our tenancies are registered with the Residential Tenancies
Board (RTB) to ensure that all of our residents are fully protected by
the 2004 Residential Tenancies Act. - Our accounts are externally and independently audited and we comply with Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) standards.
- We adhere to data protection guidelines and have a data protection policy.
