  1. St. Catherine’s Association – an overview

St. Catherine’s Association Ltd. (SCA) is a S39 non-profit organisation and registered charity funded by the HSE.

Established in 1970, SCA provides care to children and young adults with intellectual and other disabilities. We provide Residential Living for children and adults, Respite and Alternative Short Break Options for children, Day Service for adults, Nursing, and Positive Behaviour Support. We also employ a wide range of clinical therapists who work in partnership with other agencies through the Children’s Disability Network Teams.

SCA is also a patron of St. Catherine’s Special School (http://www.stcatherinesspecialschool.ie/)

     3. The Role

SCA wishes to appoint some new directors to its Board. As a director your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings and any additional commitments, including participation in sub-committees.
  • Policy development and implementation as required.
  • Adherence to good corporate governance practices and controls.
  • Support for, and oversight of, the executive management of SCA.
  1. Desired skills

Some, but not necessarily all of the qualities required in the role include:

  • A desire/commitment to make the world better for those less fortunate than oneself.
  • An appreciation of, and commitment to the Not-For-Profit sector.
  • A commitment to our vision, mission, and values.
  • A commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or knowledge of disability services.
  • An understanding of the workings of the public sector, ideally in the health / social care sector.
  1. Board Meetings

There will be approx. six board meetings and two sub-committee meetings per year. Meetings are held both online and in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow.
