Who We Are

Mellow Spring Child Care Service CLG is a community-based, not-for-profit childcare organisation established in 2003. Mellow Spring is based in Finglas, Dublin 11. 

We provide high-quality care, education, and support for children aged 6 months to 12 years through our Baby, Wobbler, Toddler, Preschool, and Afterschool programmes. We cater for approximately 130 children daily and support families through a range of childcare funding schemes, including the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Programme and the National Childcare Scheme (NCS).

Mellow Spring is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors who are committed to ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable, compliant, and responsive to the needs of children, families, staff, and the wider community.

Role Description

Volunteer Director / Board Member

Mellow Spring Child Care Service CLG is seeking new volunteer board members to strengthen the skills, expertise, and diversity of our Board of Directors.

As a Director, you will help provide strategic direction, oversight, and governance to the organisation while supporting the continued growth and development of our services.

The role carries the duties and responsibilities of a company director under the Companies Act and Charities Governance Code.

Successful candidates may have opportunities to progress into officer positions such as Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, or Subcommittee Chair.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act in the best interests of Mellow Spring Child Care Service CLG at all times.
  • Support the long-term sustainability and strategic development of the organisation.
  • Ensure good governance and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor organisational performance, financial management, and risk.
  • Support the management team in achieving organisational goals.
  • Contribute to decision-making regarding finance, human resources, policies, quality assurance, fundraising, facilities, and service development.
  • Promote the organisation within the community and support positive stakeholder relationships.

Time Commitment

Board membership is voluntary.

Typical commitment includes:

  • Attendance at Board Meetings (approximately 2 hours per month during at lunchtime)
  • Participation in occasional subcommittee meetings or working groups
  • Reviewing board reports in advance of meetings
  • Supporting specific projects or initiatives where appropriate
