South West Wexford Family Resource Centre (SWWFRC), based in Ramsgrange, has been serving the community for over 35 years. Our Centre is located in the historic Ramsgrange Resource Centre, a building that has been part of local life since 1875. As we look to the future, we are establishing the Ramsgrange Resource Centre Sustainable Development Group to guide the care, safety, and eco-friendly development of the building.
We are seeking board members and advisors with experience or interest in:
-
Building design, construction, or trades (e.g. architecture, engineering, carpentry, electrics, plumbing).
-
Heritage building care and conservation.
-
Sustainable development and energy efficiency.
-
Health, safety, and accessibility in community buildings.
-
Community development and volunteer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Support SWWFRC in planning and guiding the sustainable development of the Ramsgrange Resource Centre.
-
Provide independent advice on building maintenance, safety, and eco-friendly upgrades.
-
Ensure the Centre remains welcoming, safe, and resilient for generations to come.
-
Contribute to strategic planning and community engagement around the future of the Centre.
-
Act as an ambassador for the project within the community and relevant networks.
Commitment:
-
Attend quarterly Sustainable Development Group meetings (hybrid options available).
-
Provide occasional specialist input outside meetings where relevant.
-
Serve a voluntary role as part of the wider Board of Management of SWWFRC.
This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute your skills to a well-established, respected community organisation. Together, we can protect the history of the Ramsgrange Resource Centre while developing it sustainably for the next 150 years.
