Trustee (Company Secretary) – Join Ireland’s Toy Library Movement

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a pioneering and ambitious circular economy initiative as a Trustee (with a focus on governance/Company Secretary responsibilities).

About Us
Carrickmacross Toy Library is Ireland’s first standalone toy library, based in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. We are reimagining how communities access toys—reducing waste in one of the most plastic-intensive industries while championing every child’s right to play.

Through our toy lending service and play sessions for children aged 0–8, we serve families across Monaghan and neighbouring counties including Louth and Cavan.

We are also leading nationally; in 2025, we founded Toy Libraries Ireland, the national association for the sector.

As a registered charity (and newly formed CLG) and member of international and national reuse networks, we are now entering an exciting phase of growth and impact.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a committed and experienced Trustee to join our Board, with particular interest in individuals who can take on the role of Company Secretary.

This is a chance to contribute to a high-impact, community-driven organisation at the forefront of Ireland’s circular economy movement.

  • Strong understanding of governance and charity compliance (Company Secretary experience highly desirable)
  • Previous experience at senior level (2+ years)

  • Alignment with our mission of sustainability, reuse, and child-centred play
