Trustee with Governance Experience

Intercultural Language Service is recruiting an experienced charity Trustee to join our board to help us develop our Governance plan and strategies. As member of our Governance and Nomination Committee you ensure the organisation is suitably governed and supported.

We expect that you cover most of these:

  • A current or former professional with significant governance experience, particularly from the not-for-profit sector.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the charity and not-for-profit landscape in Ireland.
  • Commitment to the highest level of corporate governance.
  • Have an alignment to ILS I values.
  • Have the time and commitment to fulfil the role.
  • Previous experience as a Trustee or Company Director.

Time Commitment
The board meets minimum four times per year, either virtually or in person. Half of the board meetings are in person in Dublin city centre, while the other half are online. Board meetings are typically two hours in duration. Trustees are elected for a three-year term, with the possibility to be re-elected twice.

As board member with governance responsabilty  you work with the other board members members to:

  • Oversee the yearly Charities Governance Code Compliance Report, and monitor the implementation of it.
  • Develop relevant Governance documentation for consideration by the Board
  • Advise the Board and the Management Team on any issues related to governance
  • Conduct periodic reviews of ILS governance structures, processes, and policies
  • Oversee and evaluate Board Performance
