Trustee with Governance experience

The Organisation:

Sankalpa CLG is a community based project for addiction recovery in the Finglas and Cabra areas of Dublin. Sankalpa is funded by the HSE and DEASP.

The Sankalpa team works through advocacy and partnership to empower people to address their drug and alcohol challenges by providing low threshold access, day stabilisation programmes and targeted training and employment placements for those in recovery.

We manage, deliver and review our individualised programmes to help and support service users on their rehabilitation path. We use evidence-based therapeutic, qualitative and creative programmes to achieve both personal and social recovery outcomes.

The role:

The role will involve:

Managing governance and compliance matters ensuring adherence to charity and company law and other statutory requirements.

Reviewing documentation and advising the Board on any necessary changes, implementing  requirements, reporting and filing obligations as they arise

Monitoring and reviewing compliance.

Working with Board and staff on compliance and governance requirements and providing practical support, training and guidance to facilitate compliance where necessary.

Supporting the implementation of best practice in governance and compliance within the charity

Supporting the Chairperson and Board in identifying ,assessing and mitigating risks.

Board Meetings:

The board meets every 6 weeks, typically online, on a Tuesday from 12.30pm for approximately 1.5 hours.

There will also be a requirement to join the Governance & Oversight sub-committee which meets monthly for approximately 1 hour.
